ABOUT REIKI
REIKI --
is made up of two Japanese Words/Symbols they are:
REI and KI.
REI (ray),
means universal life energy;
KI(kee),
means personal life energy.
Reiki
Practitioners use light hand placements to channel energy to
the recipient. The
goal is to balance and enhance the individual’s
energy to promote optimum health. Reiki is an ancient healing art
which was re-discovered in the late 1800s by Mikao Usui. Usui
attuned 16 Reiki Masters, among them Dr.Hayashi, who had a large
clinic in Hawaii. Mrs. Takata came to the clinic to be healed
from physical and emotional dis-eases. She stayed to learn about
Reiki, and became a Reiki Master attuned by Hayashi. He told Mrs.
Takata that there was a great war coming in the near future. He did
not want Reiki to be lost again during the war. Hayashi sent Mrs.
Takata to the United States in 1938 to teach Reiki. She attuned 22
Reiki Masters. It is said that she never taught a class the same
way twice. Who
may benefit from Reiki? Reiki can be used as an adjunct treatment
for chronic or acute pain. Informal studies have found Reiki to be
effective in reducing post surgical pain, stress, depression, chronic
pain, cravings, and much more. Only
now, as we enter the 21st Century, are controlled studies being
done on Reiki and other Therapeutic Touch Therapies. Reiki
is often practiced by nurses. These nurses use Reiki to work with
hospital patients along with traditional medicine. In
many hospitals, Reiki is offered to preoperative patients to relieve
their stress levels. Reiki
may speed wound healing -- in a hospital setting as well as other
emergency situations.
REIKI
INFORMATION
What
to expect – A
typical Reiki session lasts about one hour. Prices
vary from $30,00 to $75.00 for a treatment in this area. The
client remains clothed, and lies on a padded table. The practitioner
gently places both hands, palms down, on a sequence of approximately
12 positions on the body, in order to channel energy to those areas. The
client may experience this transfer of energy as heat, cold,
tingling, vibration, and may see colors or other things during the
treatment. The practitioner typically begins at the client’s
head and works down to the feet. The client is then asked to turn
over so as to treat the other side of the body. It is useful for
a practitioner to have a reiki table to treat clients, although
Reiki treatments may be done on a sofa, or with the recipient seated
in
a chair. Reiki
treatments can be performed in any setting comfortable to client
and practitioner. I have performed reiki treatments in a river,
and on the floor. Reiki
treatments and hand positions may vary according to a client’s
needs. As a practitioner becomes more familiar with the energy,
she may intuitively know where to place her hands, or even find
her hands
moving during the treatment without her intention to change positions. A
Reiki Practitioner is a healer who has been trained and received
a hands-on attunement from a Reiki Master/Teacher. Reiki is a mind/body/spirit
intervention, and therefore treats the entire person.
IS
IT REALLY REIKI?
There
are so many different forms of healing in use today, some of them
using the word “Reiki” as
part of their name, that it is easy to get confused. Is what
you are being offered really
Reiki?
The following four things are unique to the Reiki Healing system. 1.) The
Attunement. The ability to give reiki healing treatments is obtained
only by a hands-on attunement from a Reiki Master. This is
the only way the Reiki energy can be activated. 2.) The lineage. All Reiki healing methods are part of a system that
is passed from Master to Student back to the founder of the system. 3.) Spiritually
guided. Reiki does not require the practitioner to guide the healing
with her mind. The practitioner is a vessel for the
energy
that is received through the universal spiritual
power. 4.) Harmless. Reiki is guided by higher power. There is no way Reiki
can harm the recipient or the practitioner.
I
have never refused anyone Training or Treatment due to
their financial situation. Return
